Do I need to be a member to book?

No. Non-members can book, subject only to having a promotional code. Members receive priority access and preferred pricing.

How do I join?

Apply online or in person. Once approved, your membership is activated immediately.

Can I switch or pause my membership?

Yes. Changes must be made before your next billing date. Adjustments take effect the following cycle.

Do unused services roll over?

No. Monthly services expire at the end of each billing period.

Proper Barber Membership Benefits and Terms

Proper Barber Club Membership Agreement

This Membership Agreement (“Agreement”) sets out the terms and conditions governing your membership in Proper Barber Club (“Proper”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By purchasing or using a Proper membership, you agree to these terms.

1. Membership types and benefits

Proper currently offers the following membership tiers:

1 grooming service per month
Preferred member pricing on additional services
Priority booking access compared to non members

Proper Premium

2 grooming services per month
Preferred member pricing on additional services
Priority booking access and access to select member events

Proper VIP

4 grooming services per month
Preferred member pricing on additional services
Highest priority booking access and invitations to VIP events

Specific inclusions, such as haircuts, beard trims, or other services, and member pricing for add ons like hot towel shaves will be detailed on our website and in club materials and form part of this Agreement.

Membership benefits are personal to you and may not be shared, transferred, or assigned, except with our prior written consent.

2. Eligibility

You must:

Be at least the age of majority in your province of residence
Provide accurate and complete registration information
Have a valid payment method on file

We reserve the right to accept or refuse membership at our discretion, in compliance with applicable human rights and anti discrimination laws.

3. Term and auto renewal

Unless otherwise stated, memberships are ongoing and billed on a recurring monthly basis from the date of purchase or activation.

Your membership will automatically renew each month, and your payment method on file will be charged the applicable membership fee plus any taxes until you cancel, suspend, or we terminate your membership in accordance with this Agreement.

If we introduce fixed term or pre paid memberships, any special terms will be clearly disclosed at the time of purchase.

4. Billing and payment

Membership fees are billed monthly in advance.
By purchasing a membership, you authorize Proper and our third party payment processors to charge your payment method for recurring membership fees, applicable taxes, and any other charges you incur in connection with your membership.
If a payment is declined, we may attempt to process it again and may suspend access to membership benefits until payment is successful.

We may adjust membership pricing from time to time. Any price change will be communicated to you in advance in accordance with applicable law and will take effect on your next billing cycle, unless you cancel before that date.

5. Appointment booking and use of services

You must book services in advance using our online booking system, app, or by contacting the club.
Appointment availability depends on stylist schedules and demand; we recommend booking in advance to secure preferred times.
Membership services included in your tier must be redeemed by you personally.

We require a valid payment card on file to secure bookings.

6. Late cancellations and no shows

To respect our barbers and other members:

Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours before your appointment time.
Late cancellations or no shows may result in a fee or the appointment being deducted from your monthly included services.

Specific fees and rules will be posted on our website and in club materials and form part of this Agreement.

7. Rollover of unused services

Unless otherwise stated at purchase:

Included services that are not used within the billing month do not roll over and are forfeited, with no refund or credit, except where prohibited by law.
From time to time we may run promotions that allow limited rollovers, which will be disclosed separately.

8. Refunds

Membership fees are generally non refundable, except where required by applicable consumer protection laws or where we specifically state otherwise in writing.

If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact us promptly so we can investigate.

9. Cancellation by member

You may cancel your membership by:

Logging into your online account, or
Contacting us at membership@properbarber.club or in person in the club.

Unless otherwise required by law:

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
You will continue to have access to membership benefits until that date.
Fees already charged for the current billing period are not refunded.

If specific statutory rights of cancellation apply in your province, those rights will be respected and, where they differ from this Agreement, will prevail.

10. Suspension or termination by Proper

We may suspend or terminate your membership, in whole or in part, upon notice to you if:

You fail to pay any amounts due
You repeatedly miss appointments or breach our cancellation policies
You engage in conduct that is abusive, unsafe, or otherwise inappropriate toward staff or guests
We cease operating the club or materially change our business model

If we terminate your membership for convenience and not for cause, we will refund any prepaid, unused portion of membership fees, except where such a refund is not applicable due to promotional terms clearly disclosed at purchase.

11. Club rules and conduct

To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone:

Treat staff and other guests with respect.
Follow all posted club rules and staff instructions regarding safety, hygiene, and appropriate conduct.
Use our facilities and services for their intended purposes only.
Do not bring weapons, illegal substances, or hazardous materials into the club.

We reserve the right to refuse service or ask anyone to leave if their behavior is unsafe or inappropriate, subject to applicable human rights laws.

12. Health and safety

You are responsible for informing us of any relevant health conditions or allergies that could affect the services we provide.

By using our services, you represent that you are in appropriate health for grooming services and understand that, while we take care to provide safe services, there are inherent risks in grooming and use of tools and products.

13. Personal items

We are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items you bring into the club, except where caused by our negligence or as otherwise required by law. We recommend keeping valuable personal items with you at all times.

14. Complimentary beverages and hospitality

Where available and permitted by law, we may offer complimentary beverages, which may include alcoholic beverages.

If alcoholic beverages are offered:

You must provide valid government issued photo identification if requested.
We reserve the right to refuse alcohol service to anyone, for any reason permitted by law.
You are responsible for consuming alcohol responsibly and for arranging safe transportation.

15. Communications and appointment reminders

By becoming a member and providing your contact information, you consent to receiving operational communications, including appointment reminders and membership notices, via email, SMS, or phone. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time, but we may still send transactional messages related to your membership and bookings.

16. Privacy

Our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in connection with your membership are described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into this Agreement.

17. Changes to membership terms

We may update these Membership Terms from time to time. If we make material changes that negatively affect your rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable advance notice, for example by email or by posting a notice in club or on our website. Your continued membership after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

18. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Nova Scotia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Nova Scotia, unless applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise.
